Free home STI tests

The HSE Sexual Health and Crisis Pregnancy Programme (SHCPP) is piloting a free home STI testing project in partnership with online STI testing provider, SH:24.

The project is being piloted in Dublin, Cork and Kerry. This means that anyone with an address in these counties can order a free STI test to their home. If follow-up treatment or support is needed, this is provided for free by HSE-funded STI clinics in Dublin and Cork.

Phase 2 of the pilot home testing service will commence on Monday 29th March. A minimum of 200 home tests will be available every day (7 days a week) over a six-week period, finishing on Sunday 9th May.

The amount of tests available per day is limited due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, to ensure there is sufficient capacity in local clinics for service users who may need follow-up treatment or support.

A formal evaluation of the pilot project is being undertaken.

More information on the STI testing pilot and how to order a test is available on sh24.ie.
