How is sexual dysfunction treated?

Talking to your GP can help

Although you might find it difficult to talk to a doctor about sexual function problems, it is very important that you do so. Sexual dysfunction can be caused by an underlying health problem your doctor can identify.

A range of treatments are available for sexual dysfunction. These include:

  • psychosexual counselling
  • giving you the information you need to work through your problem
  • prescribing medication to help you

If sexual function is an issue for you, talk to your GP, who will be able to give you useful advice and perhaps refer you on to an expert.
